Young Justice: Invasion Episode 7- "Depths" Review (SPOILERS)

This is by FAR the best episode of "Invasion". Salvage, Alienated, and Bloodlines all knocked it out of the park, but this episode kept me on the edge of seat.

I'll admit, I was worried that Artemis was gonna die. There was hints throughout the episode that Artemis was going to kick the bucket. But when Aqualad straight up stabbed Artemis, I was sold. I knew Artemis was dead and Kaldur was a full blown psychopath. I was pretty much sure he was no double agent. All the reactions from the Team were pretty heartbreaking.

And it turns out.......

Artemis was never dead, it was all a ruse orchestrated by Nightwing and the Team's mole, Aqualad was not evil at all. Now THAT's how you make a plot twist. Greg truly threw us for a curveball.

I'm pretty glad Kaldur isn't evil. I felt that the most mature team member from season 1 going evil is pretty stupid.

This was the perfect episode to leave us on with the upcoming hiatus. It sucks that "Invasion" will not return till September. I'm pretty curious how Artemis' death will affect the Team in the upcoming episodes, and with Mgann mindwiping villains....makes you wonder if Kaldur is M'Gann's next mindrape victim.......

Young Justice: Invasion Episode 5 "Beneath" and Episode 6 "Bloodlines" Review

I felt Beneath was a good episode, but it wasn't t as jaw dropping as the last two episodes of Invasion. I liked the A plot, with Cassie, M'Gann, Bumblebee, and Batgirl. Cassie is a very fun character, I like her a lot. Miss Martian didn't mindrape in this episode. (surprise!) Bumblebee wasn't that interesting, but Batgirl was kinda cool. We still haven't got to know Bumblebbe or Batgirl that well, but hopefully we will soon. The B plot with Jaime was okay. We got to see the YJ version of Apache Chief, and also some themes of child abuse. Which was interesting.

But oh man, that ending the Light is kidnapping teens to give to their partner (The Reach). Maybe to attach scarabs to them? One of the teens strangely looked like Static Shock..so maybe they're planning to turn them into superhuman weapons.

I thought Bloodlines was a great episode. This episode introduced a new team member (I think?), Impulse. I thought he was a fun character, but e actually comes from the future, because Barry dosen't have any kids yet. Also this episode introduced a new villian, Neutron. Who was the subject of a test of superhuman genes by an alien race. Probably the Reach, but there is still a possibility that it's a different alien race. But Boy oh boy we had a good twist ending, app wrangle in Impulse's timeline, The Flash was killed by Neutron, and world was destructed by an unknown force. Who destroyed it? The Reach? The Light? Or was it *gasp* Darkseid? I can't wait to find out.

Young Justice: Invasion- Ep. 3- "Salvage" Review

I didn't think this episode, "Salvage" would top last week's episode. But it easily did. So many revelations in this episode. I LOVED this episode.

Ever since "Invasion" started, fans have been tearing the timeskip apart, because 4 of the recurring cast members, Wally, Artemis, Roy, and Kaldur, were absent from the season Priemere.

So, now, with this episode, we know what happened to Wally and Artemis. Wally is now retired from the superhero business and he also lives with Artemis. I'm really glad Spitfire unlike the ill-fated "Supermartian" ship (didn't even like the Supermartian pairing that much anyway.) But boy, Wally has matured even more. I can't wait to see him again in episode 6.

The whole B-plot was about Roy, which we learned an important twist. At the end, Cheshire, reveals she is married to Roy and they have a child, Lian. Hopefully they don't mindlessly kill her off, I'm lookin at you, DC. It is also revealed that Guardian is Jim Harper's clone. I wonder what happened to Cadmus, after The Light attacked them. Hopefully we will find out soon.

Now the A-plot was just as interesting. We got some nice development with Blue Beetle. I'll say it, Blue Beetle is my favorite new member. I find him more enjoyable than Batman The Brave and the Bold's incarnation of him. It was also revealed that Ted Kord exists on Earth-16. But was killed off by the Light. And also, we now know who The Light's new partner is, it is indeed, The Reach (the alien race that created the Scarab) The Light killing off Ted Kord was obviously a plot orchestrated by the Reach to get the Scarab back. Also, I loved the Blue Beetle/Superboy interaction.

Sportsmaster was also in this episode. But he was just assisting the partner. Intergang was pretty much the main villain, but damn. Is Miss Martian STILL mindwiping? Jeez, or was it Sportsmaster punishing them for interfering with their operation? Or was Miss Martian in cahoots with Sportsmaster?

Anyways, really good episode. I loves it. Also saw the preview for next week's episode. Batgirl, Wonder Girl, Miss Martian, and Bumblebee are fighting the Fearsome Five, in Biayla. Queen Bee is in Biayla, and she killed Gar's mom. And Miss Martian is also going to Biayla. This will not end well.

Young Justice: Invasion- Ep. 3 "Alienated" Review

It really pays off to have faith in Weisman and Vietti. "Happy New Year" was not that great, "Earthlings", I liked, but, this episode "Alienated", truly knocked it out of the park.

This episode had a huge revelation about one of the missing members, Aqualad. Many saw this coming, but Aqualad has turned evil! (Or so we think) Aqualad probably had the short end of the stick last season when it comes to character development. But Weisman and co seem to be setting up a important character arc for him this season. Hopefully he's a double agent or he will reform sometime this season. But Kaldur's character just got a billion times more interesting. Also Nightwing, Superboy, and Lagoon Boy confronting Aqualad is probably my favorite scene this season so far.

But you could also understand why he turned evil, the girl he loved ditched for his best friend, The Team blew him away back in "Alpha Male". And Tula is dead now. Life must suck for poor Kaldur. Also now, because of this episode, we now know who falls and dies on the YJ Videogame.

This episode answered questions bit also raised new ones. Sometime in the episode, a shadowy figure planted an alien bomb. But who was it? The Light and Black Manta seem to be talking about a new partner. They're a new partner, so they can't be Apokiliptan. I'm betting my money on the Reach (Where Blue Beetle's scarab originated from) or the White Martians. But time will tell.

Also we had the anwser to what happened during the 16 hours. Now 8 of some of the League's heavy hitters are going on trial on Rimbor. This not will not end well. But I liked the Team's goodbyes to the League.

Superman also gave Conner a Kryptonian name, Kon-El, and he also called him "little brother". I guess Superman technically still dosen't want to be Conner's dad, interesting.

Great episode! "Invasion" has finally hit it's stride!

5/5

But god I cannot wait next for week, spoilers had revealed what will happen next week. So pumped.

Young Justice: Invasion- Ep. 2 "Earthlings" Review

Well, in Weisman (and Vietti) I trust.

This was a huge step up from Invasion's incredibly lackluster season Priemere. I liked this episode a lot.

This episode was very character focused, we had some nice reveals about Superboy, M'Gann, and Beast Boy.

I really enjoyed Adam Strange here, he was a fun character. Rann was a neat setting, it had a nice jungle type to it.

The real meat of this episode was Superboy/M'Gann. In a nice plot twist, we find out that Conner is actually the one that broke up with M'Gann, with reasons left unknown. But the ending makes it makes it fairly clear why the broke up...more on that in a bit.

I enjoyed Beast Boy, he was a fun comedy relief character, he reminded me a lot of Wally. But we also had a tragic revelation about Gar, his mom was killed by Queen Bee. Heh, more like Queen Bi***. Poor Gar :(

But oh man that ending, was just phenomenal. M'Gann just pretty much mind wipes a defenseless Krolotean, exposing her murderous side. M'Gann has became one of the more interesting characters of this show, and Superboy obviously broke up her because of the mind wiping. M'Gann also knows what happened during those missing 16 hours. Can't wait to see where this goes.

Anyways, great episode. 4/5

Young Justice: Invasion Ep. 1- "Happy New Year" Review: WTF!!!

All start out by saying, WHAT. THE. HELL.

I'm sorry, but this was a really meh episode.

It turns out that we had the inevitable timeskip, not just one year later, but a whopping 5 years later...

What mainly really pissed me off about this episode, was that we have have a new team, filled with newbies besides Superboy and M'Gann, WHO WERE THE MOST DEVELOPED CHATACTERS IN SEASON 1! Dock as Nightwing appeared, which was cool though, but I don't if he is a den mother or a full fledged member of this new "team". Also, there is a new Robin, who is not Jason, but Tim Drake, which I liked as Tim dosen't get enough love in DC Animation. As for The new members, There is Mal Duncan and Bumblebee, who practically did nothing, Batgirl and Lagoon Boy, Batgirl really didn't too much. As for Lagoon Boy, I will say that the Supermartian ship has sunk, Lagoon Boy is now dating Mgann, which I didn't see coming. I guess that leaves Conner open for Cassie...:)

I particularly liked Blue Beetle and Beast Boy, and the way they played off each other. Wonder Girl was great.

Lobo, was only in the episode for like 3 minutes, which was Dissapointing. The invaders turn out to be...Kroloteans. I'm a hardcore DC Comics fan, to be honest I never heard of them.

And another reason I have a problem with this episode, where the hell are Kaldur, Artemis, and Wally!! I greatly dissapoints me that they go the short end of the stick. Hopefully they will appear later on, and confident that they will..

Zatanna and Rocket also graduated into the League...interesting.

I'm gonna miss the old team greatly, but this episode wasn't all that great, I have faith in Weisman and Vietti...hopefully they will prove me wrong..

Now excuse me while I rewatch season 1 and cry myself to sleep.

3/5

Young Justice Season 1 Review

"Young Justice" is something truly special to me. This is show I've kept under my radar for a long time, but thanks to the March-September 2010 hiatus, I lost track of it. But I caught "Failsafe" on CN, and what do you know? I'm became a huge fan.

The season finale aired today, I decided to a season 1 review, but I my opinions on the finale will be brought into "light" here.

Many of people haven't said this, but YJ is the best DC superhero animated show ever made. This is superior to JL/JLU, BTAS, STAS, and Beyond for two simple reasons: characters and overarching plotlines.

First, characters. We see Superboy and his issues with his father Superman, and him trying to fit in a world where he isn't in a Cadmus pod. Artemis, who is trying to keep her Supervillian family kept a secret from her teammates. M'Gann, who is fighting who she really is. Both Robin and Aqualad have leadership issues. Zatanna coping with the loss of her father. And lastly, Wally's denial, eventually putting him in a life and death situation.

Every single character is just phenomenal, and is a reason why I adore this show.

And the main plot of this show, The Light conspiracy. Everything they've done has built up to the big finale, them retrieving the Starro piece, partnering with Apokilips, the creation of Kobra Venom, and using the Injustice League as a distraction. Personally, my favorite Light members are Vandal Savage, Klarion, and Lex Luthor. Klarion is the immortal version of the Joker. Lex Luthor is YJ's version of a Greg Weisman trope- evil businessmen- example- Gargoyle's David Xanatos and TSSM'a Norman Osborn. Vandal Savage is a brilliant mastermind, who is the best villian on this show.

And lastly, the mole storyline. Probably one of the best season long mysteries in Animation history, it really kept me guessing. At first I was thinking Aqualad, Superboy, or M'Gann, all for various reasons. But this particular storyline came to unexpected end- it was Red Arrow/Speedy since the pilot.
He was a Cadmus clone with programming to infiltrate the League, and placed Starro tech on the League- and the Light's endgame, controlling the League.

When you look at this season as one big story, it's one of the best superhero shows in history.

Something not to be missed-really good stuff, With Gargoyles, Spectacular Spider Man, W.I.T.C.H. And now YJ, Greg Weisman has proved himself one of the best storytellers in Animation history.

And next week, the Invasion is coming, And I'm absoultely pumped.

I will also be doing Legend of Korra reviews, so stay tuned :)

Young Justice Ep. 25- "Usual Suspects" Review

This is the episode I've been waiting for. And what can I say? It was absolutely phenomenal.

The meat of this episode was the mole storyline. We had Artemis, M'Gann, and Conner tell the Team their secrets. I had a couple of issues with that particular scene. I thought that we got a anticlimatic ending for the Artemis family subplot, and they should've had her secrets revealed in "Insecurity". White Marrtians would've made sense if they postponed it to the last scene of the season finale, hence the second season title "Invasion". Superboy's secrets weren't all that big, so it didn't bug me that it was revealed here. Also a part I liked about the White Martian reveal was that everyone stepped back when they saw her true form except Aqualad. Just heartwarming.

Also, this is definitely one of the best episodes when it comes to action. The Cheshire/Riddler Lex Luthor/Queen Bee fight scenes were executed very well, I enjoyed them a lot.

There was a full circle element to this episode as well. We had nods from Independence Day/Fireworks and other continuity stuff.

But damn, that ending was friggin' badass. Vandal Savage watching the sunset as the League now down to him, badassery plain and simple.

And Roy was the mole, Dissapointing more emphasis on this when I do a review of the season finale.

5/5! Epic, Heartwarming, and Action-packed! An episode you won't want to miss!

A heads up, I will start a new blog review series soon, revolving around YJ.

Young Justice Ep. 24 "Performance" Review

Well I liked this episode, but I just gotta say this...Why in the world do we have a filler-ISH episode this late in the season? Ehh, kinda bugs me, but that's besides the point. This was a much needed Robin focused episode and it didn't dissapoint.

The villian of this episode was Parasite, kind've odd for a circus episode. I didn't really like his design. It is also noted that he works for Intergang, which someone theorized on Toonzone that his weather device was actually a big boom tube. Also, Clancy Brown was King Faraday investigating the thief in the circus. Hmm.. white hair, cop, reminds me of a certian George Stacy ;)

Another part of this episode was the mole storyline, Roy was on the mission to spy on the three mole suspects (Conner, Arty, and M'Gann) Something tells me that all points are directing to Roy being the mole. Well it's either him or Superboy, maybe even both, time will tell...Speaking of Superboy, he is still using those shields Lex Luthor gave him back in "Agendas". Maybe those shields are supposed to manipulate Supey...

Again, this was a Robin focused episode, the circus they went to was Haly's Circus which was the circus where he performed as the Flying Graysons with his now deceased parents..sad. The effect of him because of the loss was in play in the whole entire episode. He also had a little pep talk with Wally, which is nice to see their friendship in play.

I liked it not as good as the past 5 episodes, but still fantastic.

4/5

Next week THE MOLE WILL BE REVELAED!!!!!!!

Also, expect a late review of the first two episodes of "Ultimate Spider Man".

Young Justice "Insecurity" Review

Yet another home runner hitter. This show at this point could surpass, JL/JLU. But the finale will tell which one is better...

This episode was Artemis focused, Artemis is in the top 3 of my favorite characters on the team, and I loved this episode.

We got a lot of Villians in this episode.
We had the return of Sportsmaster, and I have to say, he is one of my favorite Villians in the show, so manipulative and badass, defienetely a revamp compared to his lame comic book counterpart. We also had the return of Cheshire. Her manipulative additute with Artemis, and chemistry with Red Arrow is just perfect. Other recurring Villians appeared, Klarion, The Brain, and Professor Ivo. Sportmaster broke Ivo out of Belle Rece to bring a nano tech element to Starro, and Klarion brings a magic element. Dang, The League is gonna have a lot of trouble defeating Starro...

The plot of this episode was Red Arrow's return making Artemis insecure, and their doomed for failure mission. We also had an development in Artemis and KF's romantic relationship, things go well for them, until the end at least...

The episode ended with The Team (Maybe just RA and KF) not trusting Artemis was once again. And we also have a blackmailing ending again, Sportmsaster trying to get Artemis get back to her over her trust issues with The Team. I think there's a very high possibility we're getting a triple mole.Dang, Weisman and crew are creating an awesome mystery.

Overall, another fantastic episode.
4 and a half/5

Oh by the way, I'll have a review of the 1st episode of Ultimate Spiderman, and a review of the season priemere of the second season of Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes tommorow.

Young Justice "Agendas" Review

This episode knocked it out of the park. It was just that good. First and foremost, Superboy is my favorite member of the Team. His complicated relationship with Superman and his desire to live up to him, just made me love the character. This episode was about Superboy's return to Cadmus, and trust me, it did not dissapoint.

There was also a major subplot. the League voting on new members. Among the candidates were the Team (except Artemis, I believe) Icon and Rocket, Plastic Man, Red Arrow, Atom, Blue Devil, and Guy Gardner. We also see the League questioning their trust with Batman, Dr. Fate, and Captain Marvel. Batman saving Robin in order for Dick not to become like him, just gave A LOT more depth to Batman, and one of my of my favorite parts of the episode. Hal and John's reaction to Guy was just icing on the cake :)

This episode major plot was about Superboy, we find out about his programming, origin, and his half human donor. We also see the return of Cadmus, which is definitely a dream come true. We also have confirmation that Guardian is Red Arrow's uncle.....which is interesting.....

We also have Lex Luthor return. And think I like YJ Luthor more than DCAU Luthor. It's probably that his voice actor does an amazing job, and Luthor just seems more sinister here. We also have the revelation that there was a super clone before Superboy, named Match. I have to say, I definitely got a Superboy Prime vibe...

The episode ended with Superboy's second father is Lex Luthor and he has secret programming. Superboy's chance of being the mole has upped immensely.

I really, really, liked this episode. God, this show gets better with every episode.

GREAT episode,

YJ "Auld Aquaintance"- My Thoughts (MASSIVE SPOILERS)

I just saw "Auld Aquaintance" on YouTube in Portugese. I was disappointed. REALLY dissapointed. I was thinking all day about how Auld Aquaintance was going to be leaked. And I was excited. Usual Suspects was absolutely phenomenal.

This was just an OK episode. First, we have a JLA vs YJ episode. I don't think jamming that into a 22 min episode dosent't give a battle as epic as that Justice. Secondly, the ending really pissed me off. After 25 episodes of build up, we have The Light doing there usual "Everything went as planned....MWHAHA!!" They should've had The Light being defeated in season one. All of the fan girls on tumblr didn't like the new years ending where everyone kissed. That was actually a part I liked.

Overall, I was very dissapointed by this episode. I don't understand why this episode was lackluster. It was written by Greg Weisman for christ's sake! When I think of my favorite YJ episodes, "Independence Day/Fireworks", "Humanity", and "Misplaced" definitely come to mind.

Theory- The Mole reveal in YJ "Usual Suspects" (MASSIVE SPOILERS ON Ep 25)

Young Justice Ep. 25, "Usual Suspects" was leaked on Friday, all I have to say is...

MIND=BLOWN. BEST.EPISODE.EVER

Now I'll talking about the mole reveal in ep. 25, if you do not wish to be spoiled about the identity of the mole, do not read further.

Red Arrow was the mole. HOLY CRAP. I really did not see that coming at all. Before watching ep. 25, I was suspecting, three moles (the team members who were suspected of being a mole), Robin as a double agent, Aqualad , Superboy, or M'Gann. But I have to admit, it makes sense. The Light NEVER said there was a mole on the team. All they said was that they had a operative on the inside/ inside source. At the spur-of-the-moment I just realized something, Sportmaster said exactly this, "Not bad Lad, better than your Team did in Santa Prusxa or Biayla. "Let's just say I have an inside source. VERY inside." He was referring to Roy, who was inside in the building with Sportsmaster and Kaldur. He could also get intel from the Hall of Justice, or Mount Justice.

Also, RA was clearly brainwashed, when Vandal Savage entered the Watchtower via zeta tube, Red Arrow had a confused look on his face. Or Maybe he had a Starro spore on him, and the effect was wearing off.

Ep. 6 "Infiltrator" definitely meant something for the mole storyline, meaning RA was brainwashed during that time.

Still, for all we know, RA is a decoy mole, and is someone else, probably, Conner.

But yeah, still shocked that Roy is the mole. Tommorrow, Ep. 26 will be leaked. I am absolutely pumped. Starro spores have taken over The League, and now they are The Light's weapons. The Team vs the most powerful heroes on Earth? How are a bunch of teenagers supposed to win? The results will be Intersting. In Weisman I trust that finale is GONNA be mind blowing!

Young Justice "Image" Review

This episode was GREAT. We finally get the answer to a long debated subject; is M'Gann a White Martian?

The villian's we got in this episode were Queen Bee and the return of Psimon. Psimon was great here, we also got a telepathic battle rematch between Psimon and M'Gann.

Robin is leader in this episode to switch things up. He was doubtful and a little...sad, when became leader, probably because of the devastating events of "Failsafe".

We also meet Garfield Logan in this episode. Oddly, his mom is the main actress of "Hello, Megan!" and has a striking resemblance to M'Gann. And I wonder why the heck would The Logan's would want to live in Biayla (or Quarac, I don't remember.) After Biayla ns attack The Logan's home, Gar is hurt and needs a blood transfusion. M'Gann gives him her DNA. Hmmm, maybe Megan's DNA gives him hus trademark green skin and animal shapeshifting.

This was a M'Gann focused episode, and we got to learn her secrets, well at least WE, the audience did. The Team watches the pilot episode of "Hello, Megan!" and Megan (the main character of the fake tv show) looks exactly like M'Gann. Also, we learn how M'Gann found out about the name, Conner for Superboy. Megan's love interest in the show is named Conner and looks like Conner, but with long hair. Coincidence? I think NOT.

When the telepathic battle occurs, we see M'Gann's true form, and boy is it UGLY. But when M'Gann reveals her true form to the Team, she lies to them. Hmmmm, M'Gann isn't that trustworthy..

This was a great episode, I thought it was a lot better than "Coldhearted".

4/5

Also, Queen Bee blackmail? Maybe M'Gann is the.........MOLE?

Young Justice "Coldhearted" Review

I have mixed opinions on Coldhearted. Back when Coldhearted, Image, and Agendas were leaked in Turkish, I was not really digging Coldhearted. But I decided till it came out on Saturday to give my full opinion.

Coldhearted is about Wally's Birthday. I did enjoy his little surprise birthday party scene. I love Artemis' reaction to Wally's birthday kiss from Miss Martian. That's when Artemis tells him the truth about M'Gann and Superboy :) Which was kinda harsh.

As if Kid Flash's birthday couldn't get any worse, while the team and the league team up, Kid Flash travels to Seattle to give a donor heart to a girl in need. We get to see Vandal Savage, but he gets a VERY minor role, but his fight scene was excellent.

So it turns out Count Vertigo was the villain the whole time. It was an attempt to kill the queen so Vertigo could become the king. When Kid Flash finally arrives to Seattle, one of his goons (disguised as a surgeon) steals the heart. Kid Flash's plan (faking the girl's dead via news) shows this kid really is a genius. Kid Flash and The Queen's conversation was really sweet.

People have been debating whether this a Light operation, it probably wasn't but they would have an advantage if one of their allies was king of a country. Also, yes the ice villains were definitely made the ice fortress'. But they were in their cells? That's BS. Belle Reve is in The Light's control and Professor Ivo is one of their prisoners.

To be honest, this episode was okay, it was fun, but the real highlight was Wally's character development. This episode didn't really hook me in. Next week's episode, "Image", is a one I'm looking forward to, the team will learn of Megan's secrets. (or do they?)
